The beginning of the year can be hard for a lot of students… shy students, students with language or articulation delays, and even students who may be thought
of as “popular” or “outgoing” may feel anxiety about starting a new year in a new classroom with a new teacher, and new classmates. Starting the year with a
structured activity can help ease these students into a new school year. So grab your Chipper Chat® chips or your Bingo chips and get ready to find out some
fun facts about your students with this no-prep Back to School Bingo game!
Number of Players
- 2 or more (students can play individually, in small groups, or as a whole group)
Materials Needed
- One “Back to School Bingo” board for each student or group
- Chipper Chat® chips or Bingo chips
Directions
- Give each student/group 16 Chipper Chat® chips or Bingo chips. (Tip: If Chipper Chat® Chips or Bingo Chips are not readily available, students can use paperclips or sticky notes, or just mark off squares on their boards using crayons, colored pencils, or markers! Be creative! Have fun!)
- Give each student or group a copy of the “Back to School Bingo” board. Boards should be kept FACEDOWN until everyone is ready to play.
- When everyone has some chips and a board, the teacher calls out “Go!” Students then turn their boards over and read the activities in each square.
- Each student/group then marks off any squares for any activities they did over the summer. The first student/group to get four in a row shouts “Bingo!”
- In order to “win” the game, any student/group declaring “Bingo!” should be able to give details about any activity marked off in their Bingo line!
