Trick-or-treating is a Halloween tradition for many children across the nation. Children enjoy dressing up in costumes and going from house to house looking for treats! But just because Halloween is fun, that doesn’t mean it can’t be educational too! This year, add an extra element of fun to your trick-or-treating activities by playing Halloween Lotto!
Materials Needed
- One Halloween Lotto! board for each player
- A pencil, pen, or marker for each player
Object of the Game
Be the first player to check off all the squares on your board by finding objects that fit each square’s description!
Directions
- Give each player a Halloween Lotto! board and a pencil, pen, or marker.
- As you go trick-or-treating through your neighborhood, look for items that match the descriptions in each square.
- When you find an item that matches a square’s description, write the name of the item in the space provided.
- Try to fill your board by finding an item that matches each square’s description.
- After trick-or-treating, be sure to discuss what you found!
Game Variations
- Instead of simply checking off items as children find them, keep count of the number of items found by making tally marks in the squares to see who can find the most of each of the items.
- Divide into two teams and work cooperatively to find all of the items on your team’s board.
- Use your phone to take pictures of the items you find. After trick-or-treating, try to describe the items in the pictures to see if the other players can guess what you found.
