The beginning of the year can be hard for a lot of students… shy students, students with language or articulation delays, and even students who may be thought of as “popular” or “outgoing” may feel anxiety about starting a new year in a new classroom with a new teacher, and new classmates. Starting the year with a structured “Getting to Know You” activity can help ease these students into a new school year. So grab your Chipper Chat chips or your Bingo chips and get ready to find out some fun facts about your students with this no-prep “Getting to Know You” activity!

- Turn the A Chip Off the Ol’ Ice Breaker! page upside down or place it out of your students’ view.
- Pass the tub of chips around and tell students to pick two different colored chips.
- After students have their chips, reveal the A Chip Off the Ol’ Ice Breaker! page.
- Go around the room and have each student answer one question that matches the color of one of his/her chips.
- Go around the room a second time and have each student answer one question that matches the color of his/her second chip.
